Hi All ,

An Amazing May

By corrib Saturday, 18th July 2015 | 0 comments
May produced some amazing fishing right throughout the month. The May fly was one of the best seasons we have experienced on Corrib for many years. The lodge was buzzing from the first to the last week of the season with huge catches reported most days. The weather was anything but nice with west wind howling most days but still the fly poured off and the fish fed. The Kilbeg area of the Lake produced some great fish many over 4lb and 5lb weight mark .The best of the hatch started in this area about the 10th of the month, Greenfields started a little earlier about the first week in May.The other hatch that was consistent wheresoever or when ever we could get shelter was the deep buzzer fishing. Many rods reported 10 or more good fish on a day with many in the 3lb plus bracket. Some notable catches in May were.

April Updates

April was again difficult from a weather point of view. Constant easterly winds hampered where we could find fly but the first 10 day's of the month produced some great dry fly fishing to adult Duck fly.The first hatches of Campto buzzer arrived around the 15th of the month in the shallow water and fishing then got going. We were lucky to have a glorious 10 day period where the tempetaure was in the high teens and the buzzer poured off. Lot's of trout between 3 and 4 lb were reported caught and returned by anglers fishing out of the lodge. Most successfull patterns were light buzzer nymphs during April.Olives were scarce most likely due to the sunny weather.I have included some pictures from some happy clients during April.

March Update 2015

By corrib Saturday, 18th July 2015 | 0 comments
March was as usual a challenge ,but this season the winds never gave us a break. The Duck fly hatches were excellent but trying to find shelter had us fishing the same areas for most of the month. It's important to be able to move to new areas so that the trout are not as pressurised and usually therefore easier to catch. However we did have some excellent days in March, for example on the 27th fishing light nymphs and dry's I boated 7 trout over 2ld in weight one of which weighed 5ld 1oz and another 2 over 4lb in weight.I managed to fish alone one evening 25th and landed 6 fish for a total of 15lb.
